Sunrise at Mt Holdsworth – Tararuas Range, NZ

2019-11-13T14:40:10+13:00

Sunrise at Mt Holdsworth - Tararua Range, NZ My sister was out visiting over winter with her family. She teaches photography to university entrance students in Exeter in the UK. I have often told her off my running & hiking trips up in the Tararuas, the nights spent out taking photographs of the night sky, so it was on the list of 'must dos' while she was here. We did a family trip along the Atiwhakatu Steam  track to spend the night at Atiwhakatu Hut, which the kids loved! But I really wanted to show her the magic of photographing the night sky and then watching the sunrise from up on the tops. Being a photographer herself, it wasn't hard to convince her at all! This first set of image was taken up at the High Ridge Turn off, on the track up to Mt Holdsworth summit. The first [...]

100 miles…..

2019-11-08T14:39:33+13:00

1oo miles……. I recently headed to Tarawera Ultra Marathon to crew and pace my friend for his 100 mile race. I decided to take my camera along, to get a few behind the scenes shots as I was staying with Paul Stevens and Lesley Park who were both tackling the miler. I was hoping to get some images of Wez (Lesley) finishing her race, but she was too blemming fast, and was well and truly in before I arrived back from my pacing duties! I find the idea of running for a 100miles fascinating – how and why does something like this even come about? So I decided to ask Lesley all about it. In typical Wez style I got some very blunt and hilarious answers….. Have you always been a runner? When did you start?  Yes, no, kinda? Got into running 5km in the mornings when I began [...]

Masterton Wedding Photgrapher – Adelaide & Joshua

2019-11-08T13:42:46+13:00

Masterton Wedding Photgrapher - Adelaide & Joshua Oh winter weddings! I love a good winter wedding and this one was no exception. Especially when your dog is the best man and your brother is your bridesman. Friends, family, keeping cosy and wrapping up warm for the cold. Smoke bombs, sparklers and enchanted forests. A bride who was so incredibly happy all day, a groom who was just so in love. What more can you ask for? Sharisse x

Its always a pleasure to catch up with my families and meet their new additions. Jan and Andrew came along to see me with Elsie, and this time it was Bryn's turn in the limelight. I really loved seeing how Elsie was such a loving and protective big sister. Sharisse x

Can you come and photograph our new homestay? We really want to show off what is has to offer, including the amazing night sky? Yes please! And unfortunately for me, it meant having to spend the night there as shots were required at 8pm, midnight, 5 am....... you get the idea! I can tell you it was such a hardship - a night of peace and quiet in a stunning location, in a wonderful new homestay, photographing the night sky and then hopping back inside to sit by the cozy fire. Its a tough gig, but someone had to do it! And how could I forget the super friendly hosts and the delicious platter! Yeah, it was tough all right. lol! Seriously, if you are looking for a getaway and peace and quiet with stunning views, and a fantastic stargazing spot, this is for you. And did I mention [...]

Black Barn Tuahiwi Wedding Photographer – Kirsten & Graham

2019-09-11T04:20:26+12:00

OMG - this wedding was so much fun! I had a ball working with these guys on their wedding, and it was super fun to work with lots of people I know! I know Kirsten and Graham through running Ultra Marathons - I have met them many time, usually with us looking bedraggled and worst for wear, along a trail somewhere at silly o'clock! So, I was super excited when they asked me to photograph their wedding! Kirsten and Graham and both vegans and the keeping their environmental impact to a minimum was super important to them, so everything was re-purposed and reused as much as possible for the decorations and the guests were treated to a vegan feast to die for! The location was a key for Kirsten and Graham. Seeing as both Kirsten and Graham are Ultra Distance Trail runners, they both have spent many, many hours running [...]

Winter is such a fabulous time for family photographs! Don't be put of by the cold weather - its a great excuse to rug up and enjoy some of that beautiful, soft winter light! I have photographed this gorgeous family a few time s now - each when their boys were newborns. This time, it was time for something different so we went for a documentary approach to their family photographs - which was great for giving their two energetic boys lots of space and time to run around and have fun! Living on a  lifestyle block that we had the perfect backdrop for their session. Sharisse x

Zealandia Wedding Photographer – Bron & Steph

2019-08-09T01:40:59+12:00

Bronwyn & Steph had been guests at a wedding I had photographed a couple of years ago, so it was wonderful when they got in touch to ask me to photograph their wedding day. Zealandia was their venue - they chose to hold their celebration here as it was important for them know that they get to hold their celebration in a beautiful place while helping to do a little bit of good for the native flora and fauna. I think that's a pretty special reason.
