Nikon NZIPP Iris Awards 2021

2021-08-20T12:01:38+12:00

Nikon NZIPP Iris Awards 2021 The NZIPP Iris Awards are always a highlight of the year for us Photographers. Its a chance to to challenge yourself and push your creativity to new levels. This year was very different, as it was the first for me serving on the Honours Council, who are the board responsible for organising and running the awards. It was a full on week, very busy, but I am immensely proud of what our team achieved - particularly as we were a new team had only met for the first time in February! We had the leadership of Tracey Scott, Honours Council Chair steering us through, and it was a real team effort. We couldn't have done it without the incredible support around us - the NZIPP board, Sarah McGregor (NZIPP Executive Director) the Ucol students, the events team, the AV crew and the IT [...]

The Landing Wedding Venue – Becca & Steve

2021-03-26T12:48:01+13:00

The Landing Wedding Venue - Becca & Steve Where do I start? Such a beautiful, perfect day.  The one thing that Steve and Becca really wanted, was to be able to spend as much time with their guests as possible. The photos were super important to them, but like many couples they didn't want to be away from their guests for too long and wanted plenty of time to hang out with their bridal party. I am totally on the same page with this - weddings are all about sharing your day with the people that mean the most to you. The plan was to get ready early and then have a grazing platter for lunch at the brides parent's lifestyle block, with time just hanging out, relaxing and chatting with their best friends. I got plenty of candid images before a quick 20mins taking some more formal photos. [...]

Wharekauhau Wedding – Pete & Sam

2021-03-24T14:16:10+13:00

Wharekauhau Wedding - Pete & Sam Back to where it all began. Pete proposed to Sam up at the lookout at Wharekuhau Lodge, so it was only fitting that they would invite their close friends and family back to Wharekauhau for an intimate get together to celebrate their wedding day. The 'Wild coast Track' lived up to its name and we were treated to dramatic stormy skies and a wild wind that is the making of this rugged coastline. Thanks for braving the weather with me to get these images full of fun and drama! Thanks for having me along to share in your special day. xx

NZIPP Iris Awards 2020

2020-09-09T13:27:34+12:00

NZIPP Iris Awards 2020 I wasn't going to enter this year - its a such a rollercoaster. The choosing of images, how to edit them (or not depending on the category), making sure everything is correct before entering, the waiting. Did I mention the waiting? The ups an downs of watching your work being judged. Every year I say why do we do it?! But its the learning, the professional development, seeing your work judged by your fellow professional photographers (not just your mum, who loves everything you photograph!). And the FOMO - judging week isn't anywhere near as exciting is you have any work in! This year the awards were run a bit differently - all of the judging was done online and there were no prints to send in.  I have to admit, as stressful as it can be, I always love seeing the work printed, as [...]

Wairarapa Wedding Photographer – Crystal & Rukas, Ekatahuna Country Wedding

2020-04-04T11:40:43+13:00

Wairarapa Wedding Photographer - Crystal & Ruka Crystal & Ruka were going for a relaxed day, with a natural feel. The ceremony took place in  the middle of the camp ground which was surrounded by the most beautiful tall trees with a little river, just a short walk away. With them both being family orientated, it was mainly just family with a few close friends who they had known since school. Ruka and Crystal knew of each other during school, but didn't have much to do with each other until the later years where they grew close, through the connection of Ruka's sister. They were soon  inseparable, working, living and travelling the world together!! They had been together for 4 years when Ruka proposed, in their newly bought home. Crystal tells me - 'the proposal was just a very unromantic, unexpected knee drop in the lounge haha!' Sounds pretty [...]

Featherston Wedding Collective – Working Togther

2020-01-27T20:42:10+13:00

Featherston Wedding Collective The recent Featherston Expo was a wonderful opportunity to bring small business and community groups together to showcase what Featherston had to offer. It also gave the opportunity for people in the wedding industry to connect. Inspired by the expo, celebrant Rachel Clark approached myleslf along with Sarah of Lucalia Photography, Daria Borshcheva of Cake Lab NZ, and Bernadette Hoskins, The flower girl to meet and discuss the idea of working collaboratively. The Featherston Wedding Collective was born. The purpose of the collective is to promote our local Featherston businesses that are providing wedding services to couples getting married in Featherston or elsewhere in the Wairarapa. Members must have a personal or business address in the Featherston Ward. There is a lot of small businesses in the area and with a lot to offer! The fledgling collective would like to give a shout out to other [...]

Masterton Wedding Photgrapher – Adelaide & Joshua

2019-11-08T13:42:46+13:00

Masterton Wedding Photgrapher - Adelaide & Joshua Oh winter weddings! I love a good winter wedding and this one was no exception. Especially when your dog is the best man and your brother is your bridesman. Friends, family, keeping cosy and wrapping up warm for the cold. Smoke bombs, sparklers and enchanted forests. A bride who was so incredibly happy all day, a groom who was just so in love. What more can you ask for? Sharisse x

Masterton Wedding Photographer – Anna & Tyla

2019-03-28T21:03:39+13:00

Anna & Tyla's wedding was simply stunning. A laid back, rustic kiwi farm wedding out on the property they manage out at Mikimiki, Masteron. We had a lot of fun location scouting for this wedding, as there really are beautiful spots where ever you look, but the one place we had to go, was to the bridge where Tyla proposed to Anna. The ceremony was held under a tree in a paddock with the reception in the shearing shed. I love the way Anna & Tyla put so much time and effort into creating such beautiful spaces for their celebrations - mostly we up-cycled a and homemade items. The chandeliers on the barn and tree were stunning! Thank so much for having me along for your wonderful day! Sharisse xx
